Ivah L. Hayes, 90, of Ionia, died Thursday morning at Metropolitan Hospital in 
Grand Rapids.

She was born June 6, 1902, in Alpena, and came to the Ionia area when she was 
10 years old.

She married Emery W. Hayes in 1919. He preceded her in death in 1967. She was 
educated in Loomis School and was actively employed in various capacities in 
Ionia for most of her life.

She was an active member and organist at the Ionia Church of the Nazarene.

She is survived by two daughters; Velma High of Pinconning and Vione Schwab of 
Muir; two sons,  Dale and Robert of Ionia; 19 grandchildren; 36 great 
grandchildren,; several great great grandchildren; and several step 
grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Emery Jr., Killed in action in World War 
II; one daughter, Margaret E. Culver; and several grandchildren.
