Ionia Daily Sentinel Standard, 21 Feb 1941

Funeral services for George Hayes, 75, of Detroit, will be held Sunday 
afternoon at 2 o’clock at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A.C. Hayes in North Plains 
township.  Mr. Hayes died at his home in Detroit Thursday evening at 10 o’clock.

Born in North Plains, August 10, 1866, Mr. Hayes was the son of N.B. and Mary 
Hayes and lived in that community for many years.  He was postmaster at Muir 
for four years and November 20, 1889, married Emma J. Philp of Muir.

He moved to Detroit a number of years ago and until recent years traveled for 
the Ohio Rake company selling farm implements.

Surviving him are his wife, Emma J.; three brothers, H.J. Hayes of New York 
City, J.C. Hayes of Detroit, and Austin C. Hayes of North Plains, and one 
sister Nettie Greenhoe, of Muir.
