IONIA- Dale L. Hayes, 64, of Ionia died at his residence on Tuesday.

He was born November 18, 1928, in Ionia, the son of Emery W. and Ivah L. Smith 
Hayes.

He was educated in Ionia schools and he was member of the Ionia Church of the 
Nazarene.

He was veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, and a life member of Ionia V.F.W.

He was a police officer in Rapid City, South Dakota for 18 years and a 
custodian at Jefferson School in Ionia. Eh was also a self-employed carpenter.

He married the former Lois Dynes Cook in September of 1989; she survives.

Thomas and James Ciganick of Ionia; two step daughters, Celinda Fedewa of Grand 
Ledge and Cathleen Garland of Ionia; 11 grandchildren; two sisters, Velma High 
of Pinconning and Vione Schwab of Muir; one brother, Robert of Ionia; and 
nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Emery, killed in action in World War 
II, and one sister, Margaret E. Culver.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Ionia Church of the Nazarene, with 
the Rev. Kirk Starkweather officiating. Organist will be Rosie Starkweather.

Burial will be in the Balcom Cemetery.
