Lake Odessa Wave, 8 Feb 1951

Bert Hayner, 76, passed away Saturday evening after an illness of about a 
year.  He had been a resident of Portland fourteen years and since the death of 
his wife March 25, 1939 had made his home with his son Mr. and Mrs. Louis 
Hayner and family.

The Hayner’s were former residents of this area, having lived in the Carr 
school district on Henderson Road.

Surviving besides the son are a daughter Mrs. James (Donnabell) Platek of 
Battle Creek, a brother Lloyd of Normal, Ill., two sisters Mrs. David Messenger 
of Detroit and Mrs. Bess Hanson of Pontiac, Ill. and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 at the Neller funeral home in Portland 
with burial in Portland cemetery.  Rev. Lowell McCarty officiated.
