He was born Feb. 18, 1903, in Ionia. The Haynor family, with the exception of a few years in the 1980s, has been continual residents of Ionia County since 1834. He married the former Ruth Nelson on Aug. 10, 1936, in Menominee. He was a history teacher and athletic coach at Ithaca High School for several years in the early 1930s. He later worked as an educational adviser for the CCC Camps in Wells Park and Dunbar, Wis. Haynor also worked as a district civilian personnel director for the 9th Naval District at Great Lakes, Ill. He was a friend of Bethel Lutheran Church. He is survived by one brother, Hudson Haynor, of Dearborn, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, on Aug. 17, 1995. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, at Bethel Lutheran Church with the Rev. William Shepard officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. A memorial fund for Bethel Lutheran Church has been established."
