Jay E. Haysmer, 74, of 445 State street died unexpectedly Sunday at 12:30 a.m. 
He was found by a neighbor, Miss Margaret Tyrell, who lives in an upstairs
apartment.  Born in Orleans township September 12, 1883, he was the son of
Walter and Clara (Smith) Haysmer.  He lived in Ionia more than 50 years.  He
worked for the Hayes Manufacturing Co. and operated his own garage.  For 22
years Mr. Haysmer was employed by the former Ogilvie Auto Co.  He had been
retired for 11 years.

In October 1907 Mr. Haysmer was married to Elma Howitt.  Mrs. Haysmer died in
October, 1944.  Surviving are one niece, Mrs. Irene Monroe of Denver, Colorado,
and two cousins, Mrs. Charles F. Hastings and Mrs. Clara Norton, both of Belding.

Funeral service will be held at Boynton’s funeral home Wednesday at 2:30 p.m.
with the Rev. H.S. Ellis of Belding officiating.  Interment is to be at Oak Hill
Cemetery.
