Hatte Frances Reed Hazlett, 74, of Lansing, formerly of Belding, passed away 
Thursday, April 22, 2004, at her home.  She was born February 24, 1930 in 
Crawfordsville, Ind., the daughter of Alvin and Naomi Poynter Reed.

She was a member of Govs. Romney’s and Milliken’s staffs in Lansing during 
their respective administrations.  She was an avid antiques collector and 
dealer for more than 30 years.  She was a member of First Congregational Church 
in Belding and was past president of the Ladies Literary Club.  On August 6, 
1950 she married Dwight Hazlett in Judson, Indiana.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Clyde and Landy; and 
sisters, Beulah, Della, and Ruby.  She is survived by their children, Mark and 
Shirley Hazlett of Lansing, Cathy and Dennis Moran of East Lansing; 
grandchildren, Robin Schneider and Mark Stewart, George Schneider and Stacey, 
Christopher Wilkins, Faith Wilkins, Matthew Wilkins, great-grandchildren, 
Alexander, Claire and Morgan; brothers and sisters, Leonard, Delbert, Dale, 
Blanche and Eve; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are 11 a.m. Saturday at First Congregational Church, Belding, 
with the Rev. Dr. Dick Woodward officiating.  Committal services are 3 p.m. in 
Evergreen Cemetery on Mount Hope Road, Lansing.  A luncheon will follow the 
funeral service at the church.  Visitation is one hour prior to the service at 
church.  Memorial contributions may be given to Alvah N. Belding Library.  
Funeral services were entrusted to Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding.
