He was one of twelve children, of whom eight survive him. In 1869 he came to Michigan, and was married to Harriet Mitchell Dec. 12, 1871. After his marriage he settled in the town of Berlin. Five children were born to them, of whom one, Curtis B., died at the age of four years. His wife died June 22, 1886. He was converted in February, 1887, under the ministry of Rev. M. J. Badder, and soon after united with the Wesleyan church at East Berlin, where he remained a consistent member until called to join the church triumphant. He was united in marriage to Blanche M. Smith, of Orange, Mich., May 24, 1887. During the last six years of his life he suffered much, but with all he endured, he was able to superintend the interests of his farm. By industry and diligence in business methods, he had secured to himself and family a valuable and comfortable home. He was a man who enjoyed living, and was ever pleased to entertain his friends in a most hospitable manner. He was a friend to all, irrespective of race, occupation, politics or religion. His faith was in Christ, his Savior, trusting fully that in the resurrection morning, he with his loved ones shall roam those blissful fields where pleasures are for evermore. The wife and eight children, who survive him, have lost a loving husband and kind father, the church a firm supporter and wise counselor. A large concourse of friends gathered at the church at time of his funeral service, which gave evidence of the high esteem in which he was held by the community in which he lived. The services were conducted by Rev. M. J. Badder, of Allegan, Mich., assisted by Rev. E. T. Gray, “He is gone; may we be also ready.” File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/mi/ionia/obits/h/hazzard9571nob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.net/mifiles/ File size: 2.5 Kb
