Thomas R. Hearld, 51, of Lansing, passed away June 28, 2003 in Lansing.  He 
was born August 26, 1951 in Ionia, the son of Fredrick and Katheryn (Lowery) 
Hearld.

He was a graduate of Ionia High School class of 1969.  Tom was a self-employed 
carpenter; veteran of the Vietnam War and was an avid hunter, fisherman, 
trapper and a loving father to his baby girl, Katie.

He is survived by his daughter, Katie Hearld of Portland and Grand Ledge; 
mother, Katheryn Herald of Grand Rapids; former wife, Patricia; ten brothers 
and sisters, Delores (Doug) Buchholz of Lowell, Marilyn (Bill) Priest of Maple 
Rapids, Fred (Kathy) Hearld of Palo, Ben (Denise) Hearld of Wyoming, Jean 
(Rick) Hesse of Kalamazoo, John Hearld of Muir, Sue (George) Geisel of Ionia, 
Dan (Teresa) Hearld of Grand Rapids, Ann Hearld of Kalamazoo, Theresa Hearld 
of Grand Rapids; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Christine and Devin 
Adam, Kathy Walker and many other friends.

Funeral services will be held today at 11 a.m. at the St. Michael Catholic 
Church, Grand Ledge, with Fr. George R. Daisy officiating.  Military graveside 
services will be conducted by the Portland VFW Post #4090 at the Portland 
Cemetery, Portland.

The family is being served by the Peters & Murray Funeral Home, Grand Ledge.  
For those desiring contributions to the educational fund that has been 
established at the Portland Credit Union for his daughter, Katie, would be 
greatly appreciated.
