Her death followed a long illness. Melvina Daniels? was born in New York, December 15, 1839, and came to Michigan with her parents, who located in Jackson county, and later came to Ionia. Her marriage to Roscoe A. Hearsey took place March [unreadable], Mr. Hearsey dying April [unreadable]. Sixty years ago Mrs. Hearsey became a member of the Baptist church, and had been continuously affiliated with the organization since. Two children, Miss Winifred Hearsey and W. H. Hearsey, survive. ------------ Ionia Sentinel Standard, 19 Jan 1928 The last rites for Mrs. Melvina Hearsey, the aged resident who died Monday morning after a long illness, were held from the home Wednesday afternoon. Rev. Alfred Trenerry, pastor of the Baptist church, of which Mrs. Hearsey had been a member for 60 years, had charge of the services. The bearers were William Huggins, Levi Marshall, John Adgate, Arthur Cornell, Charles Musgrove, and Emory Townsend. Those from out of town to attend the services were Mr. and Mrs. George Cheetham, Grand Rapids, and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Cornell, Belding. The interment was in Oak Hill cemetery.
