"Bob" Heaton, 68, of Belding formerly of Saranac, died Sunday afternoon, Oct. 21, 2007 at Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids. Bob was born Dec. 20, 1938 in Kelso, Washington the son of A.B. and Helen L. ( Wassenaar) Heaton. Bob proudly served his country in the US Air Force from 1955 to 1959. Bob attended Green Corners Baptist Church and was a member of the Friendship Club and the Michigan Ground Water Association. He was one of the founders of the Bleacher Creatures and enjoyed listening to and was an avid fan of Belding High School Friday Night Football. He also enjoyed golf. In earlier years, he was very active with his boys, helping coach Little League and High School Wrestling and was active in all their sports activities. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He owned and operated A.B. Heaton and Sons Well Drilling near Belding. Bob had a good sense of humor, was honest, hard working and a good friend to a lot of people. He was married on July 11, 1959 in Pontiac to Jean Chaplin. She survives along with their children, Alan and Shirley Heaton, Jon and Cindy Heaton, Robin and Stephanie Heaton all of Belding, Jody and Tonya Heaton of Hastings and Jason and Sarah Heaton of Belding. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Stacy, Christopher, TJ and Brittany, Jacob, Sabrina, Jarod, Justin, Kacy, Allie, Mackenzie and Taylor; his special daughters, Chris, Melissa, Becky and Angela; his sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Doc Davis of Florida, his sister-in-law, Connie Heaton of Belding, many nieces and nephews and lots of friends. Bob was preceded by his parents and one brother, Jerry. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Green Corners Baptist Church with Pastor Kenneth Martin officiating. Interment will follow in River Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Johnson- Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding.
