He sustained the injury as his leg was caught between the road scraper and the whiffletree. Mr. Hecht was born in Clinton county, but had lived for many years on his 90- acre farm in Ionia township, tilling the soil in spite of his handicap of the loss of his left arm through an accident in a threshing machine accident when he was a young man. He reared a family of 10 children, one of whom, Edith May, died 11 years ago. Surviving are the widow; the children, Mrs. Grace Dyke, Ionia; Mrs. Beulah Peterson, Muir; Lloyd, of Vickeryville; Harold, of Ionia; Fred, Lizzie, William, Jr., Erford, and Ethel, at home; a half-sister, Mrs. Kate Kendall, of Owosso; a half-brother, Fred Daymon, Fowler; a brother, Henry Hecht, of St. Johns, and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at the Boynton funeral chapel on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Interment will be in the Highland Park cemetery.
