ARLENE JOY HECHT 1924-2016
Arlene Joy Hecht, age 92 of Ionia, passed away June 3, 2016 in Fenwick. She was born
March 11, 1924 in Ionia, Michigan, the daughter of Elmer and Francis (Van Giesen) 
Petersen.

Arlene worked as a country school teacher for several years. She was also a 4-H
leader for many years, Ionia Free Fair Board member, Easton Township Treasurer and was 
in the Easton United Methodist church Choir.

Arlene is survived by her daughters, Janice (Merlin) Stanton of Ionia, Marilyn
(Wesley) Thomsen of Sidney and Alicia (Mark) Barnaby of Ionia; grandchildren, Allen 
Stanton of Ionia, Heather (Lee) Hillabrandt of New York, Gregory (Melissa) Thomsen of 
West Olive, Melissa (Luke) Dudenhofer of Chicago, Amy Miller of Hastings, Theresa (Devin) 
Slagel of Hastings and Matt Miller of Ionia; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Frederick, and one brother Earl
Arden Petersen.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Lake Funeral Home
in Ionia with Pastor Luke Dudenhofer officiating. Visitation will be held on hour prior
to service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Ionia Area Hospice or
