Ionia Sentinel, 3 Feb 1972

Joseph Heckman, 63, lifelong Pewamo area resident, died Wednesday at Carson 
City hospital following an extended illness.  He was a member of the Holy Name 
society.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy; six sons, John, James, Edward, Thomas, Kenneth 
and Joseph of Pewamo; four daughters, Mrs. Louis Schafer of Fowler, Mrs. 
Lawrence Fernholz of Warren, Mrs. Edward Ladiski of Pewamo and Joan at home; 17 
grandchildren; two brothers, Frank of Pewamo and Clarence of Lansing; two 
sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Fox of Ionia and Mrs. Mary Schneider of Portland.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic church in 
Pewamo.  Rev. Msgr Thomas J. Bolger will officiate and interment will be at St. 
Josephs cemetery.  Rosary will be recited at Geller funeral home in Westphalia 
Thursday at 8 p.m. and Friday at 3 and 8 p.m.
