Lorraine “Thunder” Heether, 72, of Belding, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 29,
1999, at Ionia County Memorial Hospital.  She was born March 11, 1928, in Ionia,
to Harold and Bessie Engelbretsen McKendry.

Lorraine graduated from Ionia High School with the class of 1945.  She worked at
Belding Products as an assembler for 30 years, retiring in 1986.  She was a
member of the American Legion Auxiliary, St. Joseph Catholic Church, the VFW in
Belding and the American Legion in Hulbert.

She was married April 24, 1949, in Ionia, to Alfred Heether, who preceded her in
death on Jan. 24, 1998.  She was also preceded in death by her parents and one
sister, Jane Greenlee, in 1995.

Lorraine is survived by her daughter, Shelle Heether of Belding; two grandsons,
Kenny and Cody Peiffer; one brother and a sister-in-law, Harold and Marion
McKendry of Ionia; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are 11 a.m. Monday at the Johnson Funeral Home, Belding, with
Deacon Howard Scheid officiating.  Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. 
Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.  Memorials may be made to the
American Lung Association or Hospice.
