Dona was recently diagnosed with cancer, but never lost her great sense of humor and optimism throughout her struggle to persevere. She was born in 1949 to Clayton and Jeannine Nolan who preceded her in death in 1961 and 1990, respectively. She graduated from SS. Peter and Paul Academy in 1968 and attended Lansing Business University. Dona worked for General Tire from 1973 until it’s closing, and subsequent to that she was employed by Millard Cleaners. Doni will be remembered by family and friends for her wittiness and the quiet smile that she continuously wore throughout her life. Her generosity and willingness to make everyone around her feel comfortable, endeared her to everyone who had the pleasure of experiencing her love and friendship. Doni is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, David Heintzelman of Ionia; son, Christopher Heintzelman of Lansing; daughter Amy (Curtis) Cusack of Lowell; brother, Anthony (Patricia) Nolan of Grand Rapids; sister Jani (Tom) Millard of Ionia; step-brothers Robert Dixon of Brazil, William (Mary-Lynn) Dixon of Woodland, Richard Dixon of Ionia; step-sister, Kay (Gary) Arnold of Greenville; sisters-in-law, Sandy (Kyril) Brown of Woodbury, Sandy Heintzelman of Ionia; grandchildren, Nolan John Cusack and Ella Grace Cusack, who were the joy of her life, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father, Charles Dixon, Uncle and Aunt Tony and June Balice, brothers-in-law Ken and Ronald Heintzelman, and mother-in-law and father-in-law Everett and Evelyn Heintzelman. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m., Thursday, at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church with Father Michael Danner celebrant. Organist Mary Cusack. Interment will be in the spring at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia.
