He was born on May 17, 1938 in Kent County, the son of Vernon L. and Henrietta E. (Lee) Heintzelman. Al graduated from Belding High School with the Class of 1956 and later served in the United States Air Force from 1958-1963. He was a long time member of the Grattan Township Fire Department, Kent County Mounted Division of the Sheriff’s office, and a member of Kent County Medical Reserve Corp. He enjoyed working with leather making belts and moccasins, hunting and fishing with his grandsons in Canada. He is loved and survived by his wife Lourie (Cimek) Heintzelman and their children; Ricky Heintzelman, Tina Heintzelman, Al (PJ) Heintzelman all of Belding, Kim ( Jim) Merklinger of Lowell, Tammy Colvin, Dawn Jones, Mike Jones all of Big Rapids, Jim Jones and Johnny Jones of Caledonia, the mother of his children; Nita Heintzelman of Belding, 16 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, his sisters and brother; Ann (Art) Ward of Grattan, Phil (Becky) Heintzelman of Belding, Bobbi (George) Smith II of Grattan. Al was preceded by his parents, a grandson Ayden, son Aaron, a step son Robert Jones, two brothers David and Lonnie and one sister Jackie. Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Shiloh Community Church with Pastor Ken Harger officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Johnson- Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding. Committal prayers will be private in Blythefield Memorial Gardens, Rockford. Military honors will be given by the honor guard of the Belding VFW Post #5065. Memorial contributions may be given to the Grattan Township Fire Department or the Kent County Medical Reserve Corp.
