Helmer, 84, of Ionia died Saturday at Ionia Manor. Born June 18, 1905, in Saranac, she was the daughter of Frederick G. and Estella Garfield Good. She was graduated from Saranac High School and was married to Glen L. Helmer on June 29, 1921, in Ionia. He died Nov. 30, 1974. She was a past member of the Dildine Ladies Aid. She is survived by two daughters, Lorraine Cox of Ionia and Beverly Peterson of Belding; seven sons, Frederick of Lakeview, Bud of Ionia, Wayne of Lakeview, Thayne, Maynard and Donald of Ionia, and Larry of Orleans; 25 grandchildren and one step grandchild; 33 great grandchildren; and four step great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. from Zion United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Kenneth Harger of Shiloh Community Church officiating. Burial will be in Easton Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Earl Peterson Jr., Kaiser Downing, Dennis, Randy and Craig Helmer, and Warren Wrisley. A memorial for the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan has been established in care of Cook Funeral Home.
