Dee K. (Martin) Helmer, age 76, of Ionia, passed away September 4, 2014 in 
Grand Rapids.  She was born October 19, 1937 in Ionia the daughter of Frederick 
and Jessie (Moore) Martin. 

Dee married Donald Helmer on September 6, 1958 in Ionia.  She was a graduate of 
Ionia High School, Class of 1955 and later worked as a teller for Ionia County 
National Bank for many years.  Dee had a great love of poetry, animals, 
reading, and knitting.  She especially loved her dogs.  She loved to socialize 
and was very endearing.

Dee is survived by her loving husband, Donald Helmer of Ionia; children, Kate 
Helmer of Richland, Craig (Carol) Helmer of Ionia, and Judy Becker of Ionia; 
grandchildren, Michael Becker of New Mexico, Ashley (Dan) Zander of Greenville, 
and Justin Helmer of Ionia; sister, Marcia McCoy of Ionia; half-brother, Ed 
(Mary) Stoddard of Kansas; great-grand-children, Lane Zander and Peyton Zander; 
many nieces & nephews; several brothers & sisters in-laws.  She was preceded in 
death by her parents; step-father, Ambrose Stoddard; half-brother, George and 
brother-in-law, Dan McCoy. 

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, September 9, 11 a.m. at Shiloh Community 
Church with Pastor Ken Harger officiating.  Visitation on Monday from 2-4 p.m. 
and 6-8 p.m. at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia.  Interment at Easton Cemetery.  
Those wishing, may make donations in Dee’s name to the Shiloh Community Church.
