Larry L. Helmer, 50, of 186 W. Belding Road, Orleans, died at his residence late
Monday morning.  He was born in Lake Odessa Nov. 16, 1939, to the parents of
Goen and Mina Good Helmer.  He was a member of the Michigan Ropers Association
and the Michigan and National Paint Horse Club.  He married Joy Hoskin April 27,
1976.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Chuck Helmer of Detroit and Leslie
Ferris of Saranac; two daughters, Penny O’Harron of Hastings and Lisa Ferris of
Ionia; seven grandchildren; six brothers, Wayne of Lakeview, Bud of Ionia,
George of Lakeview, Maynard of Ionia, Thayne of Ionia, and Don of Orleans; two
sisters, Beverly Petersen of Belding and Lorraine Cox of Ionia.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. at the Zion United Methodist
Church in Ionia, with the Rev. William Dornbush officiating.  Cremation has
taken place.  The family will be at the Lake Funeral Home in Saranac on Thursday
from 7 to 8:30 p.m.  Memorials have been established for Ionia Area Hospice and
the Kidney Foundation, in care of the funeral home.
