HELMER
Donald V. Helmer aged 79 of Ionia passed away September 4, 2016. He was born
February 13, 1937 in Easton township, MI the son of Glen and Mina (Good) Helmer. Don 
married Deanna K. Martin September 6, 1958, she preceded him in death September 4, 2014. 
He worked for the Department of corrections from 1967 to 1993.

He attended Shiloh Community Church. Don loved farming and being outdoors. He was 
always very supportive of his family.

Don is survived by his children; Kate Helmer of Richland, Craig (Carol) Helmer of
Ionia and Judy Becker of Ionia. Grandchildren; Michael Becker (Steven Perez) of New Mexico,
Ashley (Dan) Zander of Greenville and Justin Helmer of Ionia. Brother: Maynard (Barb)
Helmer of Ionia. Sister: Beverly Peterson of Ionia. Great-grandchildren Lain Zander and 
Peyton Zander. Grand dog Lucille and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by
his parents, wife Dee and 1 sister and 5 brothers.

Funeral services for Don will be held Friday, September 9, 2016 at 11 :00 a.m. at
the Shiloh Community Church with Pastor Kenneth Harger officiating. Interment Easton Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Lake funeral Home in Ionia.
