Helmer, a resident of this village, met with instant death Friday when the eleven o'clock fright train passed through here. The victim of the accident was deaf and had left home a short time before the accident, with a gun, it is supposed with the intention of going hunting, and he was walking on the track when the train came along. The railroad employees signaled to him several times, and before he was aware of danger, the agent of destruction had ended his life. The deceased was fifty years of age having been born and raised in Green county, Ohio, but has been a resident of this place several years. He leaves four brothers and two sisters, Mrs. Andrews being a resident of this place.
