   Excerpts from Ionia Obituary

   ROBERTA LOU (GALLOWAY) HELMS

Died November 2, 2025-age 89 at home in Ionia.Born May 16, 1936 on the farm in 
Orange Twp, to parents, Robert & Lucy (Barnard) Galloway.
Roberta, better known as "Bobbie Lou", married her husband, Robert "Bob" Roy 
Helms in October 1956.
They raised their three children, David, Ed & Marcia on their farm where both 
she & Bob took their last breaths.
Roberta conducted the Children's Choir at LeValley Church, taught at & helped 
plan Vacation Bible School & was an active member of the PTA when her children 
were younger.
She was active in church, always helping. In her younger years,She was chosen to 
represent the farming community as the Ionia County Dairy Queen. She worked as 
the Ionia County Extension Office for a time, was a lifetime participant & 
supporter of the 4-H program, later served as the Orange Twp., Clerk for over 20 
years. 
She was most happy surrounded by family & friends. A love of Gospel Music, 
Bells, birds & anything that shed light in the darkness.
Survived by her children, David (Vicki) Helms, Ed (Betsy) Helms & Marcia (Tim) 
Miller.
Grandchildren: Elizabeth Helms, Melissa Helms, Peggy (Matt) Conley, Ashley 
(Bryan) McMahon, Paige (Travis) Sanicki, Kimberly (Don)Beard & Kyle (Jessica) 
Miller.
Great-grandchildren; Tobbie Helms,Max & Molly Conley, Caelyn, Rebekah & Elliery 
McMahon, Kinsley & Klaire Sanicki, Audrey, Lane & Bella Beard, Hudson & 
Charlotte Miller.
Great-great grandchildren: Sterling Helms, Haylin Helms & Colson Helms. 
Siblings Clint (Kris Slowins) Galloway, Nancy(Norman) McKendry, Gordon (Cheryl) 
Galloy, Rick (Bonnie) Galloway & Rodney (Chris) Galloway & many Nieces & 
nephews.
Preceded in death by her loving husband, parents & Bob's parents & siblings.
Celebration of Roberta's Life on November 7, 2025 at 12 p.m. at LeValley Global 
Methodist Church with Pastor Nancy Patera & Gordon Galloway presiding.
Visitation will be held November 6, 2025 from 2-to-4 p.m. & 6 to 8 p.m. at Lake 
Funeral Home ,Ionia.
Donation in memory of Roberta can be made to LeValley Global Methodist Church.
