She had seemed to be in apparently good health, but fell from a chair, in the kitchen to the floor just before her death. The cause of death was given as heart failure. Mrs. Helms was 68 years of age and is survived by six children, Mrs. Jessie DeVoise, of Greenville; Orbie Helms, of Ionia; Mrs. Armon Guernsey, of Perrington; Miss Martha Helms and Mrs. Pearl Curtis, of Los Angeles, Cal., and Frank Helms, who lived at home with his mother. Announcement of the funeral will not be made until word is received stating when the two daughters will arrive from California. _______________________________________________ Sentinel-Standard - Thursday, Jan. 3, 1924 The funeral service for Mrs. Mary Helms was held from the late home in Ionia township Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 and from the M. E. church at 2 o'clock, Rev. C.J. Kruse officiating. The music was furnished by Mrs. Ray Colwell and Mrs. C. E. Hathaway, with Clare Whaley at the piano. The bearers were Clinton Wright, Melvin Guernsey, Claude Crowell, and Floyd Keefer. Burial took place in Highland Park cemetery.
