The Portland Observer, Wednesday, May 6, 1903
The wife of Ira Hendee died at her home on the Jud Hendee farm north of town, 
early Tuesday morning, aged 41 years.  Heart disease was the cause of her 
death.  She leaves a husband and nine children.  The family recently moved 
here form Shepherd, Mich.  Funeral services will be held from the house 
Thursday afternoon at 3 o’clock conducted by Rev. Stewart and burial made in 
Portland cemetery.
