He came to Michigan at the age of 24 with his parents and family and settled in Berlin township and which part of the township has since borne the name of the Henderleider neighborhood. Joshua was one of a family of 11 children, six of whom are yet living, consisting of three brothers – Charles, Henry and James all of Odessa, and three sisters Mary, Mrs. Samuel Potter of Lake City; Sarah, Mrs. Lewis Lambert and Louise, Mrs. Wm. Faulkner, both of Berlin. Deceased was formerly a resident for many years of Boston, and was well known to the older members of the community. In disposition, he was kind hearted and always ready to oblige a neighbor and as a natural consequence had many friends. Naturally of a strong robust physique he was always industrious and a hard worker until disease [unreadable words] practically helpless. He, for several years has been incapacitated for work and a greater portion of the time has made his home, with and been cared for by his relatives. The funeral services were held from the M. E. church at Saranac on Saturday afternoon, the Rev. A. B. Johnson officiating. Interment in Saranac cemetery.
