Hendrick, wife of our postmaster, died at her home in this city Thursday, March 19th, aged 65 years. For the past four months Mrs. Hendrick had been afflicted with valvular disease of the heart, and during the last few days of her illness the disease assumed an extremely acute form and she was a great sufferer. Deceased leaves a husband, one son, F.H. Hendricks of this city, and one daughter, Mrs. Louis Hale, Of Lyons, to mourn her loss. The funeral will be held at the family residence on Bradford street Saturday morning at 9 o’clock, conducted by Rev. W.C. Burns, who will use the Episcopal service, at the request of the deceased. The remains will be taken to Lyons for burial. Deceased was born in Richmond, Yorkshire county, England, June 22d, 1831. She came to America in 1839 with her parents who settled in New York state. In 1855 she was united in marriage to Gideon A. Hendrick at Lyons, Mich., and during the forty years that they traveled down through life together, she was a faithful, loving wife, and a tender, devoted mother to the children that came to bless their home. In the fall of 1881 Mr. and Mrs. Hendrick moved to this city, and during their residence of nearly 15 years here she won the respect and love of a large number of friends, who recognized in her a true, Christian woman, whose home was her kingdom, and whose life was pleasantly spent in ministering to the comfort of her loved ones. Besides the husband and children, who mourn the loss of a beloved wife and mother, there are many warm friends, who sadly regret the departure from our midst of a gentle, Christian lady.
