W. Hendricks, aged 45 years. Mr. Hendricks was born on Columbrana county, Ohio, Feb. 11th, 1843, but became a resident of Michigan in early life. He was married to Miss Phebe E. Riker in Orange township March 9th, 1869, and as his death occurred on their wedding day, they had lived together just 19 years, when the happy earthly ties were broken to be renewed, we trust, in the “glad forever.” About 17 years ago the deceased became a resident of Belding, and remained there some over 8 years, beloved and respected by all who knew him. Afterwards he and his family located on a farm in the township of Orange, where they have since residec. About a year ago he contracted a cold, which settled upon his lungs, and finally caused his death. A few months since, he and his wife went south for the purpose of test the benefits of a milder climate, but it afforded him no help, and a few weeks since they turned their faces homeward, stopping awhile in Ohio with a brother and his kind family, but as he saw the end approaching, he became impatient to reach Belding, that he might see his daughter and other dear relatives before he died, and this he was permitted to do. He saw them all; enjoyed a pleasant visit with them all, and then began gradually to fail, till at length he closed his eyes on earth to open them in heaven. Besides his wife and daughter, his parents, two brothers and five sisters are left to mourn his decease. But they mourn not as those without hope. The funeral was held on Sunday morning, March 11th, at the M. E. church. Rev. D. E. Millard, being an old acquaintance and friend of the family, preached the sermon. Other services were conducted by the pastor of the church, Rev. N. Gibbs. The church was full to repletion and the services were of a solemn and impressive character. The floral emblems were peculiarly appropriate, and every mark of respect was shown in the deceased that he was worthily merited. The remains were placed at rest in our village cemetery. One by one, our friends pass o’er To the birth and peaceful shore And they join in glad surprise, The glorious anthem of the skies. A card of Thanks: We desire in this way to sincerely thank those friends who have shown so much interest in, and rendered so great kindness to us, individually, and to our dear departed George during his sickness here. Be assured your good will and sympathy rendered him more happy while living, and our afflictions more easy to bear. Mrs. Geo. W. Hendricks Mr. and Mrs. E.
