Almira Louise Hengesbach, 78, of Portland, passed away on December 18, 2007. 
She was born May 20, 1929 in Lansing to Martha (Maier) and Edward A. Laboda. 

She attended St. Mary's School of Lansing. On October 10, 1950 she was married 
at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Lansing to Joseph L. Hengesbach 
of Westphalia. Mrs. Hengesbach was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in 
Portland and her joys were gardening, flowers and cooking. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Ann and Jacqueline and a 
brother, Peter. Surviving are husband of 57 years, Joseph; children Debra 
(Roy) Wallace of Lansing, Michael of Portland, Sheila (Randy) VanWormer of 
Palmetto, FL. Gail of Grand Ledge, Joseph (Sue), Steven (Jean), Edward 
(Tracy), and Laurie (Richard) Krausz all of Portland, Faye (Dale) Schmitz of 
Fowlerville and Amy (Kevin) Robbins of Holland; 26 grandchildren; 6 great 
grandchildren; 2 brothers Edward and John; 2 sisters Mary Laboda and Kathleen 
(Oscar) Olander and many nieces and nephews. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Friday, Decemebr 
21, 2007 at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Rev. Larry King presiding. Rite 
of Committal will follow at Portland Cemetery. The family will recieve friends 
4-7 p.m., Thursday at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge St., 
Portland. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m., Thursday. The family will also 
recieve friends from 10:00 a.m. until the Mass on Friday at the funeral home. 
Memorial contributionss may be made to the Ionia Area Hospice in memory of 
Mrs. Hengesbach.
