Jolley, 1 ˝ miles north of town when it was discovered that Mrs. Jolly’s father, David Henion, had committed suicide in their unoccupied house. He had used a 22 caliber rifle and the bullet entered his head near the left eye, death being instantaneous. Mr. Henion had two brothers who had died with cancer and he lived for a long time in constant fear of meeting the same fate. He kept imagining he saw signs of the dread disease and this so preyed upon his mind that he was impelled to take his life. Daniel T. Henion was born in Pennsylvania, March 5, 1841. The family remained in that state until they came to Michigan locating at Hart. In 1867 he was married to Miss Mary Briggs of Kalamazoo. To this union was born one daughter, Mrs. Wm. Jolley, who was left motherless at the age of four years. In 1877 he was married to Miss Viola Smith. To this union was born two daughters and two sons as follows: Mrs. E. Martin of Jackson, Mich., Mrs. F.B. Miller of Fort Wayne, Ind., twin boys, Clyde and Claude Henion, of Jackson, Mich. The deceased was residing at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Jolley, at the time of his death November 27, 1913, at the age of 72 years, 8 months and 2 days. Besides his five children he leaves nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, two brothers and one sister to mourn his loss. The funeral services were held Sunday morning, Rev. E.C. Clapp of Alma officiating. Interment was made in the East Plains cemetery.
