Mr. Rodney Henry, 79, of Ionia, passed away in the early hours of Wed., March 
20, 2002.  Mr. Henry was born on Feb. 5, 1923, in Mio.  He was the eighth of 
twelve children born to Frank and Ella (Burpee) Henry.

Rod Henry was a loyal and dedicated officer with the Michigan Department of 
Corrections. Retiring from the Riverside Correctional Facility in 1986.  Always 
a tireless worker, Mr. Henry enjoyed part-time employment at the Ionia Meijer 
Stores.

Mr. Rodney Henry was wed to Audrey Rachel Fenn in September of 1950 in Mio.  
She preceded him in death, passing away in 1992.

Baseball was a lifelong passion for Rodney.  He truly loved playing, watching 
and talking about the game.  Other interests included golf, gardening and coin 
collecting.  Rodney was an active member of the Ionia Loyal Order of the Moose.

Surviving are his two sons, Kyle Henry and special friend, Barb Hausserman of 
Ionia and Frank (Kathleen) Henry of Ionia; grandchildren, Craig Henry of 
Grandville and Kyleen Henry of Ionia; sisters, Dorothy Caverly of Rose city and 
Inez Page “Tess” Northar of Ypsilanti; brothers, Calvin Henry and Tom Henry, 
both of Florida; nieces, Billie Bugbee of Ionia and Dawn Thayer of Cadillac, 
both of whom were caring and loving and very involved with his life.

Memorial services for Mr. Henry will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday at Cook 
Funeral Home, Rich Street Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Harger of Shiloh Community 
Church officiating.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider 
a donation in Rod’s memory to Moosehearts, the Child City in care of the Ionia 
Moose Lodge.  Envelopes available at the funeral home.
