Henry, 86, of Cedar Springs, died Sunday, March 2, 2003, at home. He was born in Wexford County on Dec. 28, 1916, the son of Milton E. and Viola A. Madole Henry. Walt was married in Cadillac on Oct. 27, 1939 to Erma Taylor. He retired as a heavy equipment operator from Equipment and Gravel of Grand Rapids, was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 324 for 50 years and of the Moose Lodge in Greenville and was a member of the Former Trinity Lutheran Church of Greenville. He was preceded in death by his wife, Erma Henry, on Nov. 12, 1986; a granddaughter, Laurie Harris, on May 7, 1967; brothers, Alfred, Ken, Milton and Hubert; and sisters, Violet, Hazel and Leona. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Judy and John Harris of Cedar Springs; his son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Karen Henry of Chandler, Ariz.; grandchildren, Michael and Stephanie Henry, Angelia and Paul Stanislaw, all of Cedar Springs, Melissa Fizzell of Williams, Ariz.; Amy Harris of Denison, Texas; great-grandchildren, James, Matthew, Zakary and Rebecca; his companion and caregiver, Phyllis Van Keuren of Cedar springs, and her children and families; sister, Edna Reigle of Davison; “like a daughter,” Arlene and Joe Hayes of Big Rapids; his in-laws, Gail and Ethel Taylor of Boone, Doris and John Majerle of Cadillac; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral and committal services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville, with the Rev. Scott Lindner officiating. Burial is in Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding. Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Michigan or St. Paul Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
