June. 23, 2018 Laurine Ruth Henry Laurine Ruth Henry, born March 29, 1936 to Harold and Ruth (Carter) Walkington passed away June 20, 2018 at Spectrum Butterworth after a brief illness. Laurine attended Lakewood Schools. She was raised on a farm in the Lake Odessa area and developed a lifelong strong work ethic. Throughout her life she was always quick to lend a helping hand to her friends. Laurines strength and determination saw her and her children through many journeys. Her live and devotion to her children never wavering. She enjoyed gardening and canned many quarts of food for family while maintaining a meticulous home and raising four children. In her later years she loved caring for her beautiful rose bushes. Laurine was employed at General Motors in Lansing, retiring after 30 years of dedicated service. She was a lifetime member of Lake Odessa Library and Lake Odessa Historical Society, where she enjoyed volunteering many hours along side her daughter Darla. She had fond memories of times spent with her cousin Bonnie Leak and the Walkington clan! Her smile-laugh-love and devotion will be missed. Surviving Laurine are her sons, Dwight Shortz of Ionia, Robert Shortz of Ionia, Mark Forshey of Greenville; step-daughter, Lori (Hank) Dailey and family of Alma; step-son Jim (Lori) Henry and family of Alma; step-grandchildren; brother, Arnold Walkington and family of Lake Odessa; sister, Phylllis (Lyn) Fetterman and family of Hastings; nieces, nephews and cousins. Also surviving are special friends, Lisa McCaul and family and Jon Lewis and family who thought of Laurine (Reenie) as a second mother. She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Darla Forshey. Per Laurines wishes there will be no services. Interment Lakeside Cemetery.
