Henry, 79, of 1411 Johnson Street in Lake Odessa, died Sept 10 at Pennock Hospital in Hastings after a lingering illness. He was born Nov. 13, 1900 in Franklin, Ill., the son of George and Margaret Curtis Henry. He attended school in Murrayville, Ill. and trade school in Chicago. He was married to Viola Blake on June 11, 1924 in Roodhouse, Ill. They moved to Detroit after their marriage and lived there for 11 years until moving to Lake Odessa in 1936. Mr. Henry was employed as a signal maintainer for 45 years with Pere-Marquette and C & O Railroads. He retired in 1965. He was a member of the Lake Odessa Masonic Lodge 396, the Oddfellow Lodge and the Tri-County Conservation Club. He also served on the Lake Odessa village council. Survivors include his wife; four sons, George W. of Santee, Calif., James P. of Marshall and Harold T. and John D. – both of Lake Odessa; two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Willette of Clarksville and Mrs. Dick (Beverly) Velte of Woodland; a sister, Mrs. Mildred Buckenhizer of Detroit; 18 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Services were held on Sept. 12 at the Pickens-Koops Funeral Chapel in Lake Odessa. A memorial fund has been established for the emphysema fund. Envelopes are available at the chapel.
