Hepburn were held Friday p.m. at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Sm. Burletson, 660 west Main street, which was his home during the brief experience of his married life. A feeling sermon was preached by Rev. D. F. Barnes, D.D., pastor of the M. F. church, of which deceased was a member. Flowers testified to the remembrance of loving friends. The barbers of the city sent a beautiful piece, a wreath summounted by a star, in choice flowers. The Epworth League, to which deceased belonged, sent a bunch of lilies. Interment was at Oakhill. The bearers were selected from the barbers: L. shumway, Fred Henrisch, Wm. Butz and James Cox. Robert W. Hepburn was born April 6, 1867, in the city of St. Thomas, Can. He moved with his parents to Montcalm county, this state, in 1881. He resided near Stanton until he came to Iona in 1869. He learned the barber trade in the Gais shop, and soon after went into business for himself, which he continued until after the death of his wife and his own failing health impelled him to seek relief by a change of climate. He was married to Miss Carrie Burletson May 6, 1893. She died June 6, 1894. In December of 1894, he was taken sick with la grippe, from the effects of which he never recovered. For the five weeks previous to his death he was staying with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Benj. Hepburn, Bushnell, Montcalm county. Besides his parents, he leaves three brothers and one sister. The end came on Tuesday, Feb. 12. Mr. Hepburn was possessed of good business qualifications and his daily walk and conversation did no discredit to his profession of faith in the religion of Christ. He was of rather quiet disposition, but in no sense morose, and was generally esteemed and liked by his business associates and people with whom he was brought in contact in a business or social way.
