The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Monday, December 20, 1982


Eva D. Herbert, 83, of 814 E. Lincoln Ave., former Detroit resident, died 
Sunday afternoon at Ionia County Memorial Hospital.  She was born March 30, 
1899, in Ionia, a daughter of William and Dora Marquette Coates.  She was a 
member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the VFW Auxiliary in Detroit.

Surviving are: one sister, Mrs. Emily Beckhorn of Ionia; one sister-in-law, 
Mrs. Hazel Coates of Orleans; and one brother, William Coates of Clearwater, 
Fla.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday from the Leddick Funeral 
Home, with the Rev. Mark Bouchard of Ionia First Baptist Church officiating.  
Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Richard, William 
Gordon and Harry Coates; Kenneth Beckhorn and Fred Todd.  The family will be at 
the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.  A memorial has been established for 
Ionia First Baptist Church.
