Herrick, 70, Montcalm County representative in the state legislature died suddenly of a heart attack Tuesday evening while attending a family night dinner sponsored by the Carson City WTCU. He had served in the legislature continuously since 1934. Mr. Herrick was born in Bushnell township, Montcalm County on April 4, 1879 and had lived in the community all his life. In 1903 he married Lany R. Croel who died February 25, 1946. On September 1, 1949, he married Maude E. Richardson of Carson City who survives along with his children, Mrs. Arnold Nelson of Stanton, Mrs. Mildred Blackmer of New Richmond, Indiana, Clifford of Cleveland Ohio and Gayla Herrick of Detroit. At the age of 20, Mr. Herrick entered the employ of the Herrick Casket Co. of Muir, spending six years as factory worker and salesman. He then purchased a farm south of Carson City which he operated until about three years ago when he sold it and moved into the village. In 1917 he was elected supervisor of Bloomer township, Montcalm county and served until be became county treasurer in January, 1923. He was a member of the Carson City Methodist church, Carson City Lions club , farm bureau, grange and Masons. Arrangements by Gunther Family Funeral Home, Carson City.
