April 28, 2017 MERLENE HERRICK 1930 2017 Merlene "Sue" V. Herrick, age 86, of Saranac, passed away April 24, 2017 in Lake Odessa. She was born Sept. 11, 1030 in Ronald Township, the daughter of Merle and Mabel (Collin) Steele. Sue was a graduate of Ionia High School, class of 1948. On Nov. 12, Sue married Bob Herrick. He preceded her in death in 1992. She went on to marry Rodney Adgate on Feb. 23, 2008. He preceded her in death in July 2013. Sue worked at Doctors Slagh and Laird in Saranac for many years and later at Saranac Medical Clinic. She enjoyed journaling and spending time with grandchildren. Sue loved to play cribbage, Scrabble and bridge. Sue is survived by her children, Jim (Lynda) Herrick of Mt. Pleasant, Julie (David) Klahn of Clarksville; step-children, Craig (Sharon) Adgate of Saranac, Linda (Arthur) Briseno of North Carolina, Kim (Sharon) Adgate of Alabama, Theresa Southwell of Sterling Heights, William (Jennifer) Adgate of Ionia, Kelly (Jerry) Adgate of Woodland, Max Adgate and Tom Kann of Caledonia; sister, Buelah Colley of Ionia; grandchildren, Denise (Charlie) Brown, Danielle (Shawn) McBride, Ryan (Amy) Klahn, Scott (Rachel) Klahn, Andy (Nicole) Klahn, Adam Klahn; 14 step-grandchildren,13 great-grandchildren and 22 step-great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Merle and Mabel; husbands, Bob and Rodney, one brother, Three sisters and daughter-in-law, Karen. Funeral services for Sue will be held Monday, May 1 at 11 am. at Saranac Community Church with Pastor Becky Poor officiating Interment Saranac Cemetery. Visitations will be Sunday 3-6 p.m. at Lake Funeral Home in Saranac and one hour prior to service at the church. In lieu of flowers those wishing may make memorial contributions to Ionia Hospice or Saranac Community Church.
