Herron, who dies suddenly of a heart attack Sunday while on a deer hunting trip with his wife in the Upper Peninsula, will be held at 1 p.m. from his family home near Pewamo. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday from the Barden's funeral home in Ithaca with interment in Ithaca cemetery. Herron was born Feb. 23, 1888, in Lyons. He moved to Ionia in 1934 from Gratiot county. He built and operated the Farmer's gas station on South Steele street for eight years. He then went into the implement business for the Co-op. At the time of his death he was a partner in the Cherokee Boat Manufacturing business in Pewamo. He married Pearl Sanders of Ithaca in 1906. Surviving are the wife, two daughters, Mrs. Maxine Mays of Belding and Mrs. Barbara Rhoden of Ionia; three sons, Richard of Ionia, Stuart of Pewamo and Kenneth of Lyons; seven grandchildren; and four sisters, Mrs. Vera Dickerson and Mrs. Mary McFeilin of Ithaca, Mrs. Bernice Peters of North Star and Mrs. Doris Brunson of Williamston. The body was brought to his home near Pewamo Tuesday night where it will repose until the prayer service Thursday afternoon.
