Services Held for Walter Hershberger

Walter E. Hershberger, 76, retired farmer, Route 3, Woodland, passed away 
Saturday at the Osteopathic Hospital after a weeks illness.

A native of Salem, Illinois, he moved to Woodland in 1910 and married Ruth 
Wagamon, December 24, 1913.

He was a volunteer member of the Woodland Fire Department and a member of the 
South Woodland Church of the Brethren and Mens Brotherhood of the church. 

Surviving are his wife; three sons, Joe Chalmer of Grand Rapids, John Mallenix 
of Hastings and Robert Mallenix of Battle Creek; eleven grandchildren; a sister, 
Mrs. E.E. McHaney of Paragould, Ark. and three brothers, Ralph of Detroit, Loren 
of Woodland and Wayne of Dixon, Illinois. 

Funeral services were held on Wednesday at 1:30 at the Pickens Funeral Chapel 
with burial in the Woodland Memorial cemetery. Rev. Charles Gibbs and Rev. 
Arthur Dodge officiated.
