Mrs. Hershiser was born in Canada. She received her formal education in Fayette college, Fayette, Ohio where she met her husband in the early 1880's. They were married in 1884. Rev. and Mrs. Hershiser came to Lake Odessa 53 years ago, after filling several appointments in the United Brethren circuit in Central Michigan. He took over the work of the Wesleyan Methodists after coming here. Mrs. Hershiser was a big help to him, acting as accompanist, teaching Sunday School classes, and being especially helpful in calling on the sick. She has spent most of her time with her son in Lansing for the past fifteen years. Besides th son Russell, she is survived by a son, Cecil, a step-daughter, Mrs. Etta Freeman of Bay City, 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Carrie Johnson of Nashville. Rev. Gritzmacher of the South Street Church of God, her pastor, conducted the services. Attending from out-of-town were Mrs. Gritzmacher and theirteen friends of the deceased from Lansing; Mr. and Mrs. Russell Hershiser and children' Rev. and Mrs. Richard Hill of Lansing, Rev. and Mrs. Robert Morgan of Lansing, Paul Hershiser, and Mr. and Mrs.Russell Hershiser Jr., all of Lansing, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. G. Hershiser and Miss Patricia Hershiser of Detroit, children of Mrs. and Mrs. Cecvil Hershiser attended. A recording of the service was made for the benefit of Bruce Hershiser who is in Japan, and Mrs. Freeman, who was ill and unable to attend.
