Hershiser, 79, of Lake Odessa, died late Tuesday at Pennock hospital where he had been a patient since early Sunday. He was born November 1, 1893, the son of Rev. John and Martha Ann Henderson. He graduated from Lake Odessa high school, and attended Michigan State college, Western Michigan teachers college, and Valparaiso university in Indiana. He taught school in Webster, South Carolina, Berkley, Mich., and Michigan school for the blind in Lansing. September 10, 1920, he married Marjorie A. Coykendall. He was a World War I veteran and member of Central United Methodist church, Masonic lodge, Lake Odessa Lions; and Lakeside Barracks. Surviving are his wife; three sons, William G. of St. Clair Shores, Bruce E., of Brooklyn, N.Y., and R. Mason of Mt. Clemens; one daughter, Mrs. Morgan Miller of Ferndale; six grandchildren and one brother, Rev. Russell Hershiser of Lansing. He will be at the Pickens funeral chapel, Lake Odessa, until services will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. at Central United Methodist church. Burial will be at Lakeside cemetery. A memorial fund for Central United Methodist church library fund has been set up, and contributions may be left at the funeral chapel, Lake Odessa.
