Chester Hesterly, 82, of route 1, Lake Odessa, died Wednesday night at Pennock hospital in Hastings where he was a patient four weeks. Born in Shannon county, Missouri, February 6, 1891, he was the son of James J. and Viola Renfrow Hesterly. He came to Lake Odessa area when four with his parents, traveling in a covered wagon, and lived the remainder of his life in the area. June 20, 1920, he was married to Clara Lepard of Lake Odessa. He was a member of Lakewood United Methodist church and retired from farming 15 years ago, still living in the farm home. Surviving besides the wife, Clara are five daughters, Mrs. Kenneth Nielsen, Mrs. Dean Bever, Mrs. Edwin Zook and Mrs. Bernice Clum of Lake Odessa and Mrs. Max Bradley of Roscommon; 24 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Funeral services will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Pickens Koops funeral chapel in Lake Odessa. Rev. Charles Dunbar will officiate and interment will be at Lakeside cemetery.
