Lake Odessa Times, 14 Sep 1904

Andrew S. Hewitt, aged 86 years, died at his home on the north side, Sunday 
morning, after being confined to his bed for a week.  The deceased was born in 
Edinburg, N. Y., February 29, 1818, and was married to Miss Sarah Dains in 
1846.  To them were born two children – a boy, William, who died two years ago, 
and a girl, now Mrs. M. J. Wales, who has been at home for the last ten years, 
caring for her parents who have been in feeble health all that time.  The 
mother and daughter survive him.

Mr. and Mrs. Hewitt came to Michigan in the early ‘70s and settled in Allegan 
county, moving to Lake Odessa five years ago.  During this time his health has 
been such that he has not been down town only five or six times.  His wife is 
also an invalid and the sympathy of the community is with her in the loss of 
her helpmeet.  The funeral was held at the house, yesterday afternoon, Rev. 
Wilcox officiating.  Interment in Lakeside cemetery.
