Lucille was born in Allegan, Michigan on March 22, 1916 to John and Bertha (Ketchum) Black. She was united in marriage to Clarence Hewitt on April 1, 1936; he preceded her in death in 1997. Lucille enjoyed quilting and crocheting, ice fishing with her husband, or fishing in any lake that she and her favorite cane pole were close to. She is survived by her daughter, Shirlene (Frank) Demaray; son, Meredith (Marian) Hewitt; 7 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; and sisters and brothers, Florence Lappin, Vera Kershaw, Elmer Black, and Garland Black. Lucille was also preceded in death by her sister, Mildred Miller; and brother, Martin Black. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Sunday, August 16 at the Koops Funeral Chapel in Lake Odessa, and for one hour prior to the funeral. The funeral service will be held at the Koops Funeral Chapel at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 17. Burial will be in Clarksville Cemetery. The family has suggested that memorial contributions may be made to In-House Hospice, or the Garden Fund at Dimondale Nursing Care Center.
