LAVERNE R. HEWITT
Woodland, MI - LaVerne R. Hewitt, age 91, of Woodland, went to be with his Lord on
April 26, 2016 at the Eaton Palliative Care in Charlotte, surrounded by his loving
family.

He was born on May 10, 1924 to Ivan and Iva (Goff) Hewitt in Saranac. LaVerne worked
for 30 years for E.W. Bliss in Hastings then retired to farm at home. He enjoyed baling
straw with his two sons, daughter and extended family. He also enjoyed fishing, bowling,
hunting, Detroit Tigers and Pistons and was a member of Lake Odessa Grace Brethren Church.

LaVerne is survived by his loving spouse of 72 years, Leola Henney; son, Tom
(Sherie) Hewitt; daughter, Lou Ann (Jim) Apsey; two brothers, Clare (Betty) Hewitt, Don
Hewitt; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren;
daughter-in-law, Carol Hewitt; special friends and neighbors, Tom and Lynda Smith, 
along with many other family and friends that will dearly miss him.

He was preceded in death by  son, Ken Hewitt; in-laws, Home and Hazel Henney;
parents; sister, Esther (Forest Scott) Wilson; in-laws, Wayne (Dorothy) Henney, Raymond
(Jane) Henney, Elwood (Arleta) Henney, Don Shook and Wilma (Rocky) Rockafellow.

Funeral service were held on Friday, April 29, 2016 at the Koops Funeral Chapel.
Burial took place at Woodland Memorial Park.
