December 13, 1979 CARL V. HEWITT Carl V.Hewitt, 84, of R R I, Woodland died Dec. 3 at St.Lawrence Hospital, in Lansing, where he had been a patient for one day. He was born dec. 23, 1894, the son of William and Agnes (Richardson) Hewitt. He attended Clarksville Schools. He married Vera Cooper March 28,1926 in Clarksville. She preceded her in death in 1965. He married Eleanor Todd in 1967. Hewitt worked as a farmhand in the Western states.He moved to Woodland in 1927 where he farmed until his retirement in 1963. He was a member of the First Methodist Church of Woodland and a past member of the Farm Bureau. A veteran of WWI, Hewitt was a member of the American Legion, V.F.W.and D.A.V. of Hastings. He is survived by his wife Eleanor of Paris, Canada and his son William of Grand Ledge; a cousin, Laverne Hewitt of Woodland; and three grandchildren. Funeral services were held Dec. 28 at the Pickens-Koops Funeral Capel in Lake Odessa.Interment was in Woodland Memorial Park.
