Ionia Sentinel Standard, 22 & 26 Aug 1935

H.A. Hewitt, 50, of Chicago, formerly of Ionia, died Tuesday in Chicago
following a lingering illness.  He went to Los Angeles, California, from Chicago
two years ago and had returned to Chicago about a month ago to consult a health
specialist.

He was born in Ionia in 1885, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Hewitt, and
attended the Ionia schools.  He left Ionia about 25 years ago and he and Mrs.
Hewitt moved to Chicago where he was in business.  Two years ago he went to the
west coast for his health.

Surviving are his wife, Anna; a son, Edward Hewitt, Chicago; one daughter, Mrs.
Evelyn Colanter, Chicago; four sisters, Mrs. Frank Bernier, Ionia; Mrs. L.
Rouse, Columbus, Ohio; Mrs. Hermione Poor, Los Angeles, Calif.; and Mrs. Mae
Swain, Grand Rapids.  

The body will arrive in Ionia Friday morning at 8:20.  Funeral services will be
held from the Boynton funeral chapel Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock with Rev.
Paul L. Stewart, pastor of the Church of Christ, officiating.  Interment will be
at the Highland park cemetery.

Funeral services for H.A. Hewitt, formerly of Ionia, who died in Chicago
following a lingering illness, were held from the Boynton funeral chapel
Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock with Rev. F.J. Fitch, pastor of the Baptist
church officiating.  Bearers were four nephews, Beverly, Auten, Thane and Bayne
Bernier.  Interment was at the family lot in Highland Park cemetery.

Relatives from away attending the services were Mrs. Anna Hewitt, Mr. and Mrs.
Frank Colanter, and Howard Hewitt, Chicago; Mrs. Mae Swain and daughter, of
Grand Rapids.
