Hewitt, 61, of Lake Odessa died Sunday morning at Pennock hospital in Hastings a few hours after admittance. Born September 29, 1911, in Minonk, Ill., he was the son of Ernest and Hannah Nelson Hewitt. He was a graduate of Minonk high school and Parks Aviation college at St. Louis, Mo., graduating as a mechanical engineer. He was employed at St. Louis until he came to Lake Odessa in January of 1948. He owned and operated the Hewitt Firestone store in Lake Odessa, was a member of Central United Methodist church, member of the Village council and trustee of the township board. He was married January 20, 1938, to Juanita M. Hall. Surviving besides the wife are two sons, Larry E. of Kalamazoo and Randall J. of Lake Odessa; one granddaughter; two brothers, William of Minonk, Ill., and John of Largo, Fla. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Pickens funeral chapel in Lake Odessa. Rev. Marvin Zimmerman will officiate and interment will be at Lakeside cemetery. Bearers will be Marvin Shanks, Samuel Fetterman, Jack Kingsley, Joseph Moltmaker, Lewis Lehman and Orvin Bartlett. Honorary bearers will be Gerald Williams, Henry Beland, Fred Garlinger, David Smith, Earl Decker and Wall Abbott. A memorial has been established.
