She was born on May 29, 1949 to Ronald and Marjorie Erickson. She was preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law, Dan and Sopha Hickey; her brother-in-law, Jim Hickey and her nephew, Wade Henton. Nancy will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 42 years, Michael Hickey; her children, Chad (Jamie) Hickey, Ann (Tal) Thompson; her grandchildren, Reece Thompson, and Connor and Garrett Feighan; her parents, Ron (Marge) Erickson; her siblings, Paula (Steve) Schray, Carol (Doug) Henton, Mark (Vicki) Erickson, Janet (Vince) Pennington; and her brothers- and sisters-in-law, Pat (Tom) Curran, Rosie Hickey, Mary (Bill) Sutton, Bill (Pam) Hickey; and all of her close-knit extended family and friends. Nancy was an active member of the community always willing to serve others. Nancy was the ultimate cabal servant. She served as the secretary/treasurer of the Lake Odessa Fair for many years. She co-founded the Lakewood High School Project Graduation event. She was an extremely proud charter member of the Lakewood Area Choral Society. She loved singing in the concerts and traveling with the group. She played organ and piano for St. Edward's since 1974. She gave of her time to organizations too numerous to mention, but a few that were near and dear to her were; Lake Odessa Friends of the Library, Habitat for Humanity, Swifty's Place, and Focus on the Family. She absolutely adored her grandchildren and loved time with all of her family. Nancy never missed a special occasion, small or large, if she could help it! She loved to scrapbook with her daughter and friends. She enjoyed traveling and was always up for a good time. Her contagious laugh will be remembered by all. As an avid walker every day since 1996 usually walking six miles a day with her country "walker friends" perhaps she is walking with Jesus right now. Nancy started her career as a clerk at Fisher Body after attending Patricia Stevens Career College in Chicago, IL. After having children, she held many part-time jobs in order to be home to raise her family. She held many positions within local government, including Odessa Township Clerk from 1974-1990, Odessa Township Assessor, and Ionia County Treasurer from 1996-2012. She worked in both the Eaton and Ionia County Equalization offices. She worked for the Lake Odessa Chamber of Commerce, G&W Parts & Service, and Lakeside Cemetery. She took great pride in working hard and going the extra mile whether anyone noticed or not. Nancy touched so many lives in her short 63 years and, though she will be missed greatly, her family is comforted in knowing she is now serving the Lord in Heaven. A time for relatives and friends to celebrate Nancy's life will be held from 6 to 8 PM Thursday, November 29 and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Friday, November 30 with Scripture Service beginning at 7 PM, at St. Edward Catholic Church.
